Dennis Daley served as a key depth out of trenches for the Carolina Panthers over the past few years. But as their depth improved this offseason, there became less of a need for the fourth-year veteran.
So, on Monday night, they traded Daley to the Tennessee Titans ahead of their 53-man roster cutdown. The 6-foot-6, 325-pound offensive lineman, along with a 2024 seventh-round selection, will be headed out in exchange for a 2024 fifth-round selection.
Daley was drafted by the Panthers in the sixth round of the 2019 draft out of the University of South Carolina. He played a pair of seasons as a Gamecock after spending the first two years of his collegiate career at Georgia Military College.
He’d go on to play in 34 games, including 21 starts, for Carolina in his three pro campaigns. Save for center, Daley has lined up from every position on the line—with the vast majority of his work coming at left tackle.
As far as how the Panthers’ offensive line will look by tomorrow’s cut deadline—this trade is a potentially promising one for names such as Cade Mays, Deonte Brown, Cameron Erving and Michael Jordan.
