Deion Jones isn’t the only former NFC South foe flocking over to Spartanburg, S.C. on Monday.
Per his agent Sean Stellato, defensive lineman Nick Thurman is signing with the Carolina Panthers.
Thurman, a Dallas, Texas native, played his college ball at the University of Houston from 2014 to 2017. There, he amassed 93 total tackles (16.0 for a loss), 4.5 sacks, a pair of fumble recoveries and four passes defensed over 34 games.
The 6-foot-4, 305-pounder broke into the NFL as an undrafted free agent with the Houston Texans in 2018. He was later waived prior to the start of the regular season on Sept. 1.
After a very brief offseason stop with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Thurman found a more stable home as a New England Patriot in 2019. He spent three years under head coach Bill Belichick, appearing in seven games during the 2020 campaign.
Thurman since picked up short stints with the Atlanta Falcons and Jacksonville Jaguars.
