The Arizona Cardinals will face all four teams in the NFC South in 2022. Three teams in the division — the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, New Orleans Saints and Carolina Panthers — are all looking for new starting quarterbacks this offseason.
Two of them are pursuing Houston Texans quarterback Deshaun Watson.
According NFL Media’s Ian Rapoport and Tom Pelissero, the Saints and the Panthers both have made offers for Watson, who did not play in 2021.
The Texans are going to grant Watson permission to meet with both teams, as he has a no-trade clause in his contract and he would like to meet formally with any potential new team before waiving it.
Watson was recently cleared of any criminal charges related to accusations of misconduct with a number of women. With Watson in the clear legally, the trade market has begun to heat up.
Watson last played in 2020 when he led the NFL with 4,823 passing yards, threw 33 touchdown passes and only seven interceptions.
If either the Saints or the Panthers land Watson, the Cardinals would face him for the first time ever in 2022.
