Christian McCaffrey isn’t the only playmaker who we should be seeing on the field again, soon. The Carolina Panthers just announced that they have designated rookie defensive end Yetur Gross-Matos to return from the injured reserve list. He has been out since he suffered a high ankle sprain in a win over the division rival Atlanta Falcons back in Week 5. It was a shame, since Gross-Matos was just starting to get hot before his injury.
In four games so far this season, Gross-Matos has totaled one sack, one quarterback hit and six combined tackles. That might not seem like much, but his pressure rate was among the best edge rushers’ in the league before he went down.
By comparison, the veteran Stephen Weatherly hasn’t done much in his place. Gross-Matos should return to the Panthers’ starting lineup once he is officially activated. The team now has 21 days to do so.
