Dave Canales may be the next man ready to take the next step in the Carolina Panthers’ head-coaching search.
According to NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport, the Panthers are planning to speak with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers offensive coordinator for a second time. The two sides completed their first interview this past Thursday.
Canales got his NFL start as a wide receivers coach with the Seattle Seahawks, a lengthy stint that lasted from 2010 to 2017. He’d then serve as the team’s quarterbacks coach and passing game coordinator between 2018 and 2022.
The Harbor City, Calif. native was then hired as Tampa Bay’s offensive coordinator in 2023.
He is now the fourth known head-coaching candidate to reportedly draw interest for a second talk from Carolina—joining the likes of Panthers defensive coordinator Ejiro Evero, Cincinnati Bengals offensive coordinator Brian Callahan and Los Angeles Rams defensive coordinator Raheem Morris.
