The team once again tried to erase an offseason addition on Wednesday, this time by releasing wide receiver David Moore. Moore inked a two-year, $4.75 million deal with the organization back in March.
A friend of general manager Scott Fitterer over from Seattle, the 26-year-old totaled 1,163 receiving yards and 13 touchdowns on 78 grabs during his four seasons with the Seahawks. The six-foot, 215-pounder, while fourth in the wideout pecking order, was a favorite to land return duties on the squad for the upcoming season.
That’ll fog up the special teams situation a tad more, as he and rookie Shi Smith, who will likely miss time with a shoulder injury, were the team’s top returners thus far. Receiver Brandon Zylstra and running back Trenton Cannon are the likely pair of next men up.
