Panthers RB Chuba Hubbard speaks on his ‘life-changing’ contract extension

Although he claimed to be speechless this afternoon, Panthers RB Chuba Hubbard was able to find a few words about his contract extension.

Carolina Panthers running back Chuba Hubbard is realizing the fruits of his labor.

On Thursday, Hubbard and the Panthers reached a four-year, $33.2 million contract extension. The 25-year-old back, who was set to become a free agent by season’s end, is now signed up with the organization through the 2028 campaign.

In his first chat with reporters since inking the deal, Hubbard spoke about what the move means to him.

“All I can really say is—God is good, I’m blessed, worked my whole life for this,” he stated this afternoon. “To be able to do it here in Carolina and be a part of reshaping, rebuilding this culture, it’s a blessing.”

The Panthers selected Hubbard in the fourth round of the 2021 NFL draft. Since then, he’s led the team in rushing in two of his first three full seasons.

Hubbard is currently up to 665 rushing yards through nine games, which ranks fifth in the NFL entering Week 10.
