Panthers QB Teddy Bridgewater shares a look at what motivates him

On Thursday night, Bridgewater shared a short video clip on Twitter that shows what he’s come back from.

Former Panthers quarterback Cam Newton has been taking most of the headlines this week after agreeing to a one-year deal with the Patriots. His successor may not have the same name recognition, but Teddy Bridgewater brings a compelling story of his own to Carolina.

On Thursday night, Bridgewater shared a short video clip on Twitter that shows what he’s come back from. We see Bridgewater walking gingerly in a hospital after suffering his devastating 2016 knee injury. He captioned it with a motivational message.

Bridgewater tore his ACL and dislocated his knee during training camp for the Vikings that year. He missed almost two entire seasons working his way back from the career-threatening injury, and when he did get back on the field he was relegated to serving as a backup QB.

After Drew Brees went down with a thumb injury early last season, Bridgewater finally got an opportunity to show what he can do. He went 5-0 as a starter for the Saints, which earned him a three-year deal and a chance to be the man for the Panthers.

Feel however you want about how Newton was treated by Carolina. If you can’t root for Bridgewater’s success, we can’t help you.
