Don’t expect to see big No. 7 out on the Northwest Stadium field for the Carolina Panthers this Sunday.
Starting outside linebacker Jadeveon Clowney returned to the practice field this afternoon after missing the first two sessions of the week due to a shoulder injury. But Clowney, who has been listed as doubtful for the team’s contest against the Washington Commanders, doesn’t think he’ll return to the playing field in Week 7.
“It’s getting better,” he said of his injury. “I’ll probably be down this week, but I’m headed in the right direction. Better than it was last week.”

Clowney injured his shoulder in the Week 5 loss to the Chicago Bears. He’d proceed to sit out from the following game against the Atlanta Falcons, giving way to starts by veteran and former first-round pick Charles Harris and 2023 third-round pick DJ Johnson.
The Panthers have amassed the second-fewest sacks (six) in the NFL heading into the weekend.
