The Carolina Panthers have found their summer camp buddies.
As first reported by Mike Kaye of The Charlotte Observer on Friday afternoon, the Panthers will be hosting Aaron Rodgers and the New York Jets for joint practices during training camp. The trip to Wofford College in Spartanburg, S.C. will, of course, culminate in the Week 1 preseason matchup between the two sides—which is set to take place on Saturday, Aug. 12.
Head coach Frank Reich spoke on the possibility of setting up joint sessions two weeks ago during rookie minicamp.
“You always would like to, but it doesn’t always work out,” he said when asked if such practices were in the cards. “Some years we’ve had it and it’s been great. Other years, we haven’t had it and it’s been just as good. Sometimes you go two practices, sometimes you might just go one—depending on what the schedules look like.”
Well, it looks like those schedules matched up quite nicely.
