The names are flying in and they’re flying in fast for the Carolina Panthers in their offensive coordinator search. And the latest candidate is actually best known for having had a pair of wings.
As reported by NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport, the Panthers have interviewed Indianapolis Colts wide receivers coach Mike Groh for their opening. Groh, most notably, was the offensive coordinator for the Philadelphia Eagles from 2018 to 2019—the two seasons following the franchise’s Super Bowl LII win.

The 50-year-old Charlottesville, Va. native, who broke into the pros as an assistant with the New York Jets in 2000, has accrued a decade’s worth of coaching experience in the NFL. After a 12-year stint at the collegiate level with the University of Virginia, the University of Alabama and the University of Louisville, Groh broke back in as a wide receivers coach with the Chicago Bears in 2013.
In his two seasons as the play-caller for Philadelphia, the Eagles ranked 14th in yards and 18th in points in 2018, then 14th and 12th in those respective categories the following campaign.
