Panthers GM Scott Fitterer, HC Matt Rhule present for Matt Corral’s pro day

Panthers GM Scott Fitterer and HC Matt Rhule visited their third QB in as many days, with Matt Corral of Ole Miss getting the latest look.

The next stop on the Carolina Panthers’ Great Quarterback Adventure of 2022 came on Wednesday, as the crew hit Oxford, Miss.

And the subject of said trip? None other than Matt Corral, of course.

General manager Scott Fitterer and head coach Matt Rhule were among those present at the Ole Miss pro day, where the 23-year-old passer showcased his arm for NFL onlookers. He, just like Kenny Pickett and Malik Willis before him, had a pretty smooth go at doing so, too.

The 6-foot-2, 212-pounder didn’t end his 2021 campaign on a high note, having sustained an ankle injury during the Sugar Bowl on Jan. 1. But he did turn heads on the way there—passing for 3,349 yards and 20 touchdowns while rushing for another 614 yards and 11 scores.

If Pickett and Willis are considered “Tier 1” quarterback prospects of the class, then Corral is widely perceived to be in the bunch right below. And while there remains skepticism about his build and durability at the next level—the Ole Miss product has a bit of an “it factor” to him given his big arm, mobility and competitiveness.
