Panthers complete virtual interview with Cowboys DC Dan Quinn

The Panthers have completed their virtual interview with HC candidate Dan Quinn.

The Carolina Panthers have now racked up their seventh interview in their latest head-coaching search.

As announced on Wednesday evening, the team has conducted their virtual chat with Dan Quinn. The Dallas Cowboys defensive coordinator now joins Chris Tabor, Ejiro Evero, Todd Monken, Mike Macdonald, Frank Smith and Raheem Morris as the candidates who have completed an initial interview.

Quinn got his start on the NFL sidelines in 2001–as a defensive quality control coach for the San Francisco 49ers. He’d also pick up stints as the defensive line coach for San Francisco in 2003, the Miami Dolphins in 2005, the New York Jets in 2007 and the Seattle Seahawks in 2009.

The Morristown, N.J. native became a popular name for his work with the Seahawks. After taking off for the University of Florida for a couple of years, Quinn returned to Seattle as the team’s defensive coordinator for 2013 and 2014.

He’d then get his first head-coaching gig with the Atlanta Falcons the year after, a run highlighted by an NFC championship from the 2016 campaign. The Falcons went 43-42 under Quinn from 2015 to 2020.

Quinn has spent the last three seasons heading the Dallas defense.
