Call it the reality — and especially fantasy — nightmare. Carolina Panthers star running back Christian McCaffrey suffered an injury to his right ankle in the team’s 31-17 loss at Tampa Bay Sunday.
The question for every fantasy football player who has the No. 1 pick in virtually every draft: Will the former Stanford star miss any time?

“I know he came out in the first quarter at one point, and then at the end of the game they said he was out with a lower leg injury,” said head coach Matt Rhule, who didn’t have an update on the extent of McCaffrey’s injury after the game. “I haven’t seen the doctors yet to tell me where he’s at.”
McCaffrey was slated to speak to reporters, but didn’t end up doing it after the game. After the injury I saw them tape it up, he tested cutting on it, then slammed his hands on the bench & never returned. They took the tape off & evaluated it in the blue tent https://t.co/wO8zb2sAeH

Sunday was the 50th game of McCaffrey’s career. He has not missed a game in his three-plus seasons.
