The Carolina Panthers did win in Houston on Thursday night, dominating once again in a 24-9 victory. But this latest triumph, sadly, took a devastating chunk out of them.
As if losing superstar running back Christian McCaffrey for a few games wasn’t enough, the Panthers will be without cornerback Jaycee Horn for quite some time. According to the NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, the rookie is expected to miss two to three months if he undergoes surgery on his foot.
Horn left the Week 3 contest after landing awkwardly on his right foot while backpedaling on a non-contact play in coverage. Rapoport noted, as did head coach Matt Rhule last night, that he may have broken multiple bones in the metatarsal area of his foot.
Nonetheless, Horn won’t be letting the feeling of this awful setback put a damper on his recovery nor Carolina’s 2021 season.
Tough times never last, tough people do. I hate I can’t be out there having fun but I know the guys gonna hold it down. Thank you all who wish me well. I will be back stronger! I can’t wait to be back doing what I love! Let’s keep the ball rollin! #KeepPounding #TheChosen1 pic.twitter.com/sBPG0I5q36

Any injury, of course, is unfortunate. This one, though, stings a little extra considering that Horn was not only just three games into his professional career, but was also already a key piece on the league’s most exciting defense.
