Panthers bringing in Ikem Ekwonu, Charles Cross for visits on Tuesday

Ikem Ekwonu and Charles Cross are very real contenders for the Panthers’ No. 6 pick. The team will be meeting with both prospects on Tuesday.

No one seems to have a firm beat on what the Carolina Panthers are hoping for with the 2022 draft’s sixth overall pick. Are they aiming for a quarterback, an offensive tackle or—in a completely different move—a trade-down?

And that cloudiness, at least for them, is a good thing. But we do know who they’re putting in the extra effort for, and two of those guys are getting an even closer look this week.

As first reported by MMQB’s Albert Breer on Sunday, the Panthers will be bringing in linemen Ikem Ekwonu and Charles Cross. Both big men will come into Charlotte, N.C. on Tuesday for a pair of top-30 visits.

Ekwonu and Cross are widely considered two of the class’ top three players at the position. The local NC State boy and the Mississippi State product possess the size, talent and pedigree that could potentially (and finally) cement a solution on the blindside in Carolina.

The third of those hog mollies is Alabama’s Evan Neal—the consensus No. 1 prospect in the offensive trenches. Neal, obviously, has also taken up one of those top-30 visits for the Panthers.
