The Carolina Panthers have all but ended the dreams of the Cleveland Browns of getting a fourth round pick out of quarterback Baker Mayfield. Needing Mayfield to start the rest of the way out for him to his 70 percent of the offensive snaps for the Panthers in 2022, his benching in favor of quarterback Sam Darnold dashed that hope.
Doing the math earlier this week, Mayfield can only miss 30 more offensive snaps at the current pace the Panthers are playing. To put this in perspective, the Panthers play 58 offensive snaps on average per game. Barring an injury or a tumultuous showing from Darnold that pulls him out of the game quickly, Mayfield will not his 70 percent threshold.
