Cade Meyer and Donovan Short from UW-Green Bay entered the transfer portal Thursday, leaving the Phoenix after a down season. The two former two-star recruits will be looking for new homes.
In what was a horrible season for Green Bay, Meyer produced 10.5 points and 5.0 rebounds per game in his sophomore season. He was able to play in 31 games, increasing his production across the board.
In his final season with Monroe High School, Meyer averaged an impressive 20.1 points per game and 9.1 rebounds over 18 games. Wisconsin looked into him, but never offered.
In his freshman year with Green Bay, Short averaged 2.1 points and 1.3 rebounds while playing eight minutes a game. He suffered an injury during the season, which limited him slightly and he played just 23 games.
In high school though, the big man produced a promising 23.0 ppg, 8.6 rebounds and 1.5 blocks with the Denmark Vikings. As a result, the Badgers recruited him but never gave him an offer.
Both guys are long shots to even garner the attention of Wisconsin moving forward, unless coach Gard and his staff see something that would suggest they could increase their production.
