Meanwhile, Florida landed his teammate and cohort in the defensive backfield, Corey Collier. He is a four-star recruit and the nation’s sixth-best safety (No. 110 overall), and at similar size to Marshall at 6-foot-2-inches, 170 pounds, he has the ideal frame for a member of the secondary.
He hasn’t exactly filled into that frame, and he will have plenty of opportunities to bulk up once he arrives on campus. Though he is a skilled player and UF will need safety help next year as most of the ones on the current unit, which wasn’t particularly strong this year as it is, will be leaving. But Collier may need a year or two of development before he’s ready to play a key role.

Still, the two pickups give Florida a tremendous boost to its defensive backfield, where some serious help was needed after this season’s struggles. With Marshall, the Gators get their second five-star recruit in as many years after a four-year drought, and in Collier, they add depth to the secondary that should come in handy down the line.
