Pair of LSU players taken in latest Draft Wire 3-round mock

Draft Wire’s Luke Easterling sees Derek Stingley Jr.

LSU’s 6-7 finish in 2021 was disappointing no matter how you look at it. That’s why athletic director Scott Woodward opted for a change at head coach midway through the season.

But while that team wasn’t nearly as talented as Tigers teams past, most notably the 2019 squad that is regarded as one of the greatest in the history of college football, it wasn’t devoid of talent. There are a few players on the team that will be playing on Sundays, and several LSU products should hear their names called in April’s 2022 NFL draft.

All the eyes will be on cornerback Derek Stingley Jr., who had a dominant true freshman campaign but played in just 10 games over the past two seasons. He’s still considered a first-round prospect, and some have him as the top corner while others favor Cincinnati’s Ahmad “Sauce” Gardner.

Stingley and dominant linebacker Damone Clark both appear in the latest three-round mock from Draft Wire’s Luke Easterling. Here’s where each is projected to land.
