Five reasons why Texas A&M could beat Georgia on Saturday

After clinching the SEC East for the third-straight season on the Plains of Auburn, the Georgia Bulldogs will play host to the Texas A&M Aggies in Sanford Stadium on Saturday.

What’s at stake?

Oh you know, just the ability to keep playoff hopes alive, stay in the Top 4 and get a win on senior day in Athens.

Jimbo Fisher and company are desperate for a big-time win, after going 0-3 in their biggest games of the season so far.

We don’t expect Texas A&M to upset Georgia on Saturday, but we do think it has the ability to keep it close.

Below, you will find 5 reasons the Aggies make it a close game and potentially cover.

Hornets have found great success when P.J. Washington plays well

When first-round pick P.J. Washington plays well, the Hornets have had a great record so far this season.

Charlotte Hornets first-round pick P.J. Washington has emerged as one of the top rookies this season and the former Kentucky forward has been an integral part when the team finds success.

Washington is averaging 12 points, 5.3 rebounds, 1.5 assists and 1.1 steals in 15 games this season while he is shooting 47.9% from 3-point range. He ranks ninth in scoring among all rookies and his percentage beyond the arc is third among first-year players with at least eight appearances.

When Washington plays well, the Hornets do, too.

The Hornets are 4-1 this season when Washington scores at least 15 points but are just 2-8 when he does not reach that threshold. On Wednesday, foul trouble limited Washington to just 12 minutes as he finished with five points in the loss to the Brooklyn Nets.

The first-round pick has been among the early surprises from the 2019 NBA Draft class. He has established himself as a strong offensive player given his skill set and he has also proven that he can guard multiple positions at his size.

After a 6-9 start to the season, the Hornets are ninth in the Eastern Conference as they return to action Friday night against the Washington Wizards.
