While the other late afternoon games are mostly regional broadcasts, FOX clearly wanted to show the NFC North showdown to as many viewers around the country as possible. The outcome of the game will help shape the entire playoff race in the NFC. The Packers can clinch the No. 1 seed in the conference with a win, while the Bears can clinch a playoff berth with a win.
The NFL put the Cowboys and Giants in the early timeslot on FOX, freeing a big viewing audience around the country for the late afternoon slot. And the Vikings play the Lions at noon, clearing another big viewing conflict, especially in the upper Midwest.
The Packers have played four of their final seven games this season during the 3:25 p.m. timeslot. They are 2-2 when playing late afternoon games in 2020.
