Packers wrap up offseason with virtual visit from Charles Woodson

The Packers will head to summer break after a virtual visit from former Packers DB and future Hall of Famer Charles Woodson.

A virtual visit from Charles Woodson helped the Green Bay Packers finish up their offseason.

Coach Matt LaFleur said Wednesday in an interview with Packers.com that his team has “pretty much” wrapped up the offseason program and will use the rest of this week for review. Then, players are “on their own” until the Packers report for training camp, which is scheduled to start on July 28.

Before dismissing everyone for summer break, LaFleur had Woodson –who played seven decorated seasons in Green Bay and was a leader on the Packers’ Super Bowl XLV team – address this year’s team, which is coming off a 13-3 season that ended one game away from the Super Bowl.

“Charles Woodson came in and talked to our guys, it was exceptional,” LaFleur said.

The visit from Woodson helped end an offseason workout program that was held 100 percent virtually due to the coronavirus pandemic. LaFleur said his coaches focused on getting the players in the best possible shape physically while also honing in on the details mentally, a challenging process without in-person coaching or on-field practice but one LaFleur believes his team attacked the right way.

“These guys are pros,” LaFleur said. “I thought our guys did a great job of taking advantage of it… I really think our guys got a lot out of this.”

The Packers are scheduled to report to camp in late July but LaFleur said he’s prepared to be “fluid” and “flexible” as the NFL navigates through the complications of the coronavirus pandemic.
