Green Bay Packers wide receiver Romeo Doubs made an immediate impact in his return from injury, catching three passes for 40 yards and two touchdowns in the Packers’ Sunday night win over the Seattle Seahawks. Few players were happier to see Doubs back in the lineup than quarterback Jordan Love.
“You always want to have your best guys out there healthy, and it was tough not having Rome out there, but to get him back, and obviously him having those two touchdowns was huge tonight,” Love said. “You know, he’s one of our best playmakers on offense, so it’s always good having him back out there.”
Doubs put a bow on the Packers’ win with a diving 22-yard touchdown catch in the fourth quarter. In the first quarter, he powered through a pair of defenders on a 12-yard score that put the Packers up 14-0.
Doubs missed the last two games with a concussion, which prompted him to wear a Guardian Cap for the first time in-game. Doubs said it was purely his decision to wear the extra protective padding on his helmet.
“Better safe than sorry,” Doubs said, who remained in concussion protocol for nearly three weeks stemming from a blow to the head he suffered against the San Francisco 49ers on November 24.

Not that there’s any correlation, but Doubs had an impactful performance in his first game playing in a Guardian Cap. However, he isn’t sure if he will continue wearing it.
“To be completely honest, I don’t even know,” said Doubs. “I don’t want to make it a superstition to where I have to wear one despite performance.”
Guardian Caps were first introduced in the league back in 2020. The caps are a soft-shell helmet cover that helps reduce the impact of blows and head injuries. According to NFL research, they can absorb at least 10% of the force of a hit and have reduced concussions by 52%.
Guardian Caps are a requirement for all players during training camp practices, but more players have started to wear them during games throughout the 2024 season.
Doubs is the first Packers player to wear a Guardian Cap in a game this season. Whether he continues to wear a Guardian Cap remains to be seen, but given its protective benefits, it could help prevent future head injuries.
