Packers won’t have WR Allen Lazard, LB Christian Kirksey vs. 49ers

The Packers did not activate Lazard or Kirksey from injured reserve before Thursday night.

The return of receiver Allen Lazard and linebacker Christian Kirksey will have to wait another week.

The Green Bay Packers did not activate either player from injured reserve before Thursday night’s showdown with the San Francisco 49ers, meaning both Lazard and Kirksey will miss another game.

The Packers placed the pair on injured reserve on Oct. 3. Lazard (core) and Kirksey (pectoral) were designated to return and practiced on Oct. 28, giving the Packers a three-week window to activate them to the 53-man roster.

Both players were injured against the New Orleans Saints on Sept. 27 and have missed four games. They will miss a fifth on Thursday night.

Lazard, the team’s No. 2 receiver, has 13 catches for 254 yards and two touchdowns in three games. Kirksey, the team’s leading tackler when he went down, had 27 stops in three games.

After Thursday night, the Packers return home to play the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 10 on Nov. 15. After 10 days should be enough to get both Lazard and Kirksey back into the fold.

The Packers did elevate safety Henry Black, cornerback Stanford Samuels, running back Dexter Williams and offensive lineman Ben Braden from the practice squad.
