The San Francisco 49ers and Kansas City Chiefs will meet in Super Bowl LIV to determine the next champion of pro football.
Here’s how the staff of Packers Wire believes the Super Bowl will go down:
Zach Kruse (14-4): 49ers 30, Chiefs 27
The 49ers have the pass rush and team speed on defense to keep up with Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs, and I think 49ers playcaller Kyle Shanahan will easily win the chess match against Chiefs defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo. Mahomes will ensure it’s a captivating game throughout, but I see the 49ers going up early and then holding off a late rally to win the 54th Super Bowl.
Jack Wepfer (13-5): 49ers 31, Chiefs 30
It’s hard not to think this will be a high-scoring affair. It’s the league’s most explosive offense versus the league’s most balanced team. I like San Francisco here. They’re going to be able to generate enough pressure to keep it interesting. And while KC’s defense has played better football down the stretch, I’m not sure how they’re going to stop SF’s rushing and play-action attack with consistency.
Marty Kauffman (13-5): Chiefs 28, 49ers 27
This should be a very close game with an explosive offense against one of the league’s best defenses. I just think somehow Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs get one last chance with the ball at the end and drive down the field for a game-winning score to give Kansas City its second championship and head coach Andy Reid his first.
Anthony Nash (14-4): 49ers 28, Chiefs 27
A matchup for the ages, this one has everything you could ask for, including the league’s speediest and most explosive offense taking on the league’s most explosive defense. In the end, it seems like San Francisco simply boasts a more complete team, even though it will be hard to slow down Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs offense. The 49ers have only lost three times, all of which have come in the last second of a game, so the Chiefs will have to be near perfect to pull this off, but their defense leaves a bit too much to be desired to see that happen.
Nolan Stracke (12-6): Chiefs 33, 49ers 28
Picking between these two heads is like calling a coin toss. Both have their own array of weapons and strengths, but I think the Chiefs will come out on top. Patrick Mahomes and Andy Reid’s offense are just too good to pick against.
Joe Kipp (12-6): Chiefs 30, 49ers 27
The Chiefs offense is a different animal. There isn’t a better collection of weapons in the NFL at the moment (Tyreek Hill, Sammy Watkins, Travis Kelce, Damien Williams, Mecole Hardman). The collective speed on the Chiefs offense should give the 49ers’ zone scheme plenty of issues. And if that wasn’t enough, Kansas City has arguably the most talented quarterback in the league. San Francisco’s game plan will be to keep the ball out of Patrick Mahomes’ hands by running the ball and grinding the clock, but the Chiefs’ offensive firepower is still too much by the end of the game. Chiefs win by a field goal.
