Packers to work out rookie WR Ty Fryfogle on Tuesday

The Packers will work out free agent rookie WR Ty Fryfogle (Indiana) on Tuesday, per NFL Network.

Rookie wide receiver Ty Fryfogle will be among the group of players working out for the Green Bay Packers on Tuesday, per Mike Garafolo of NFL Network.

The Packers, like many teams, often conduct workouts for players on Tuesday, the typical off day in the league.

Fryfogle (6-1, 204) went undrafted out of Indiana in 2022. He caught 158 passes for 2,231 yards and 10 touchdowns in 53 career games for the Hoosiers.

After going undrafted, Fryfogle signed with the Dallas Cowboys in May. He spent most of the offseason and part of training camp with Dallas but was waived after suffering a hamstring injury in mid-August.

Now healthy, Fryfogle could be a practice squad candidate for the Packers, especially if Randall Cobb is placed on injured reserve and Juwann Winfree is signed from the practice squad. General manager Brian Gutekunst has a roster spot open after placing Tipa Galeai on injured reserve, but it’s possible that running back Kylin Hill (PUP) or receiver Sammy Watkins (IR) could take the roster spot this week.

Fryfogle is unlikely to be a 53-man roster candidate, but his college performance – particularly in 2020 – is intriguing. During his junior season at Indiana, Fryfogle caught 37 passes for 721 yards and seven scores, including a three-game stretch against Ohio State, Michigan and Michigan State in which he caught 25 passes for 560 yards and six scores.

Fryfogle ran the 40-yard dash in 4.53 seconds, hit 39″ in the vertical leap and covered 10-7 in the broad jump at the 2022 NFL Scouting Combine.
