Packers to lose defensive lineman Jarran Reed to Seattle Seahawks

Free agent defensive lineman Jarran Reed is leaving the Green Bay Packers to sign a two-year deal with the Seattle Seahawks.

Free agent defensive lineman Jarran Reed is leaving the Green Bay Packers to sign a two-year deal with the Seattle Seahawks, according to Tom Pelissero of NFL Network.

Reed, who signed a one-year deal to join the Packers last offseason, delivered 2.5 sacks, 14 quarterback hits, five tackles for loss, two fumble recoveries and one forced fumble over 17 games, 14 starts and 705 total snaps in 2022.

The deal would become official on Wednesday when the new league year begins.

Reed is returning home. He was a second-round pick of the Seahawks in the 2016 draft and went on to play five seasons in Seattle.

Reed spent one season in Kansas City in 2021 and one season in Green Bay before returning to the Seahawks, who made the postseason as the No. 7 seed in the NFC last year.

With Reed departing, the door is now wide open for 2022 first-round pick Devonte Wyatt, who will be expected to play a significant role for the Packers defensive front in 2023.

Reed is the second Packers veteran to sign elsewhere on Tuesday. He joins receiver Allen Lazard, who will sign a new deal with the New York Jets.
