The Green Bay Packers will host an up-and-coming team in the AFC on Christmas Day at Lambeau Field.
The Cleveland Browns are scheduled to play the Packers on Saturday, Dec. 25 in Green Bay during Week 16 of the 2021 season, according to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel’s Tom Silverstein, who confirmed a report on the team’s full home schedule from Marques Eversoll of WDUZ in Green Bay.
The holiday game is scheduled for a 3:25 p.m. CT kickoff.
The Browns, once a laughing stock of the NFL, have emerged as a legitimate contender in the AFC. They will represent one of 10 games for the Packers against 2020 playoff teams in 2021.
Led by first-year head coach Kevin Stefanski, the Browns won 11 games and advanced to the AFC Divisional Round during the 2020 season. Cleveland’s roster is as talented as any in football entering the 2021 season.
The Packers haven’t faced the Browns since the 2017 season or hosted the Browns in Green Bay since 2013. The Packers have won four of the last five games in the series dating back to 2001.
The Packers have played twice on Christmas since 2005, beating the Chicago Bears at home in 2011 and losing to the Bears at home in 2005.
The Packers are scheduled to open the 2021 season against the New Orleans Saints at the Superdome.
