Packers to hold virtual pre-draft meeting with Baylor WR Denzel Mims

The Packers will meet virtually with Baylor WR Denzel Mims.

One of the top wide receiver prospects will meet with the Green Bay Packers ahead of the 2020 NFL draft.

According to Justin Melo of The Draft Wire, the Packers are one of several teams that will hold a virtual pre-draft meeting with Baylor receiver Denzel Mims, a potential first-round pick.

Melo recently interviewed Mims for an article at The Draft Wire.

The Packers, like all teams, must conduct meetings with prospects virtually due to the coronavirus pandemic. Speaking with a prospect formally provides another piece of the scouting puzzle for teams as they prepare for the draft.

The Packers need a receiver, and Mims could be one of the top options at No. 30 overall in the first round.

A three-year starter at Baylor, Mims crushed the pre-draft process, impressing at the Senior Bowl before blowing away the NFL Scouting Combine with one of the best overall workouts.

Mims caught 186 passes for 2,925 yards and 28 touchdowns over 49 games and 36 starts with Baylor. He caught at least 50 passes and scored eight touchdowns during each of his last three seasons. The two-time All-Big 12 selection checked in at almost 6-3 and 207 pounds at the combine, where he ran the 40-yard dash in 4.38 seconds, hit 38.5″ in the vertical leap and finished the three-cone drill in a combine-best 6.66 seconds.

Teams are allowed to officially meet with 30 players before the draft.

What would the Packers be getting in Mims?

“They’re getting a respectful, hard-working young man, first and foremost,” Mims told Melo. “I’m just a guy that loves football at the end of the day. They’re getting a guy that’s gonna help his team win more games than they won the year before.”
