Marquez Valdes-Scantling grew up as a fan of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
On Sunday, the Green Bay Packers receiver tied the NFC Championship Game with a 50-yard touchdown catch against his former favorite team.
Aaron Rodgers hit Valdes-Scantling beyond the coverage of cornerback Carlton Davis to tie the game at seven with 14:07 left in the second quarter.
Tom Brady and the Buccaneers opened the game with a touchdown drive, but the Packers have found their footing and are now on equal ground.
The Packers’ scoring drive went 90 yards in seven plays. Rodgers completed a 23-yard pass to Allen Lazard to convert on third down, and Davante Adams had a catch-and-run of 15 yards to spark the march.
Rodgers has completed all seven of his passes for 109 yards and a touchdown. He has a perfect 158.3 passer rating, although he’s been sacked twice.
Valdes-Scantling was tied for the NFL lead in catches over 40 yards this season with six.
