Packers sign RB Mike Weber to practice squad

The Packers signed former Ohio State star and Cowboys draft pick Mike Weber to the team’s practice squad.

A recent seventh-round draft pick of the Dallas Cowboys is the newest member of the Green Bay Packers practice squad.

The Packers signed running back Mike Weber, the 218th overall pick in the 2019 draft, to the practice squad on Wednesday.

The team had an opening after placing running back Dexter Williams on injured reserve.

Weber spent most of his first season on the Cowboys’ practice squad. He signed with the Kansas City Chiefs’ practice squad in January of 2020 and was part of the team that won Super LIV a month later.

The Chiefs cut Weber in May. He has not played in a regular season game.

At Ohio State, Weber rushed for 2,722 yards and 24 touchdowns over three seasons. He replaced Ezekiel Elliott as a redshirt freshman in 2016 and was named a second-team All-Big Ten pick.

Weber (5-10, 211) ran the 40-yard dash in 4.47 seconds at the NFL Scouting Combine. He also did 22 reps on the bench press and hit 33.5″ on the vertical leap.
