Packers sign LB Christian Kirksey to 2-year, $16 million deal

The Packers signed veteran LB Chrsitian Kirksey to a 2-year, $16M deal on Monday.

The Green Bay Packers and linebacker Christian Kirksey have agreed to terms on a two-year, $16 million contract, according to Adam Schefter of ESPN.

Kirksey, who was released by the Cleveland Browns last week, visited the Packers on Thursday.

A third-round pick in 2014, Kirksey has tallied 430 tackles (27 for loss), 11.5 sacks, 11 pass breakups, 22 quarterback hits and four forced fumbles over 64 games (45 starts).

Kirksey, 27, dealt with season-ending hamstring and chest injuries over the past two seasons, landing on injured reserve in both 2018 and 2019. The fact that he played in only nine total games over the last two years likely brought down his price tag.

With the Packers signing Kirksey to a two year deal, it’s almost a guarantee that free agent linebacker Blake Martinez signs elsewhere. Martinez could seek $10 million annually on his new contract.
