Packers rookie T.J. Slaton blocks Chris Blewitt’s field goal attempt

The Packers rookie defensive lineman blocked a field goal on Sunday against Washington.

The out-stretched hand of Green Bay Packers rookie T.J. Slaton created a big play for the special teams on Sunday against Washington.

Slaton blocked Chris Blewitt’s 42-yard field goal attempt early in the second quarter, preserving the 7-7 tie.

Blewitt hit a line-drive kick, allowing Slaton to get his hand up in the middle of the line and disrupt the ball. The kick hit his fingers and fell well short, and the Packers took over.

Slaton’s block was the Packers’ first field goal block since October of 2015 when Datone Jones blocked a kick against the Rams.

Washington returned the favor on the ensuing drive, blocking Mason Crosby’s 33-yard attempt.
