Packers’ Rashan Gary, Eric Stokes start training camp on PUP list

Rashan Gary and Eric Stokes were among four players placed on the PUP/active list by the Packers on Friday.

The Green Bay Packers officially placed outside linebacker Rashan Gary (knee) and cornerback Eric Stokes (foot) on the physically unable to perform list to start training camp. The decisions were made Friday, when the Packers had quarterbacks, rookies and injured players report to training camp.

Gary suffered a torn ACL while Stokes suffered a knee injury and a Lisfranc injury in his foot during the Packers’ loss to the Detroit Lions at Ford Field on Nov. 6, 2022. Both players missed the rest of the season and the offseason workout program.

It’s unclear when Gary and Stokes will return to the field, but a player placed on the PUP list to start training camp can be activated at any time. The Packers are likely taking the long and cautious road with Gary and Stokes, who are both recent first-round picks and key members of Joe Barry’s defense.

The Packers also placed offensive lineman Jake Hanson and receiver Jeff Cotton on the physically unable to perform list. Rookies Grant DuBose and Camren McDonald were placed on the non-football injury list.

These are only designations. All six players will count against the 90-man roster.
