Packers QB Aaron Rodgers misses practice Wednesday but is ‘definitely playing’ Sunday

Packers QB Aaron Rodgers took a rest/rehab day on Wednesday but he’s certain he’ll play Sunday against the Vikings.

Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers took a rehab day and didn’t participate at practice on Wednesday but he’s certain he’ll be playing on Sunday against the Minnesota Vikings.

“I’m definitely playing Sunday,” Rodgers said. “Today was a mental day, so there was a number of us who were either limited or DNPs. I was thankful to get a day to do some rehab. See how the week plays out practice-wise but I’m definitely playing Sunday.”

Rodgers, who returned Sunday to help the Packers beat the Seattle Seahawks, is dealing with a toe injury. The Packers held more of a walkthrough-type practice on Wednesday, giving Rodgers a chance to rehab the injury.

Coach Matt LaFleur said Monday that his team was “tired” coming out of Sunday’s win over the Seattle Seahawks, possibly leading to several experienced players getting a veteran rest or rehab day on Wednesday.

Even Rodgers admitted he was fatigued coming off missing 10 days after testing positive for COVID-19, but he was fine with his body’s recovery on Monday and Tuesday.

It sounds as if Rodgers’ toe injury was more of the limiting factor on Wednesday. He also wasn’t sure he’ll practice on Thursday or Friday.

“I’m not sure what my status will be tomorrow or Friday, but I’d like to get out there if I’m feeling good enough,” Rodgers said.

He said if he did practice on Thursday that he wasn’t sure how much he’d be able to do.

The Packers have two more games before the Week 13 bye.

“Obviously, the body is looking forward to (the bye),” Rodgers said.

Rodgers and the Packers play the Vikings at U.S. Bank Stadium on Sunday afternoon. Green Bay has won two straight games in Minnesota.
