He overtook Tom Brady as the favorite last week, and now Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers is the overwhelming favorite to be the NFL’s MVP in 2021.
According to odds from Tipico Sportsbook, Rodgers is now -180 to be the NFL MVP, with Brady and Indianapolis Colts running back Jonathan Taylor well behind in second place at +600.
Through 16 weeks, Rodgers has thrown 33 touchdown passes and only four interceptions, and he’s the league leader in touchdown percentage, interception percentage, passer rating, QBR and adjusted net yards per attempt. The Packers, meanwhile, are 12-2 when he starts and currently in firm control of the top seed in the NFC at 12-3 overall.
Rodgers and the Packers finish the regular season with a primetime visit from the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday and a trip to play the Detroit Lions in Week 18.
Over the last five games, Rodgers has completed over 70 percent of his passes and thrown 16 touchdown passes without an interception. HIs passer rating during the stretch is 125.1.
This late surge from both Rodgers and the Packers has the 38-year-old quarterback in a position to join rare company.
If he wins, Rodgers would become the first back-to-back MVP since Peyton Manning in 2008 and 2009, and only the second player ever to be MVP four or more times, joining Manning (five).
Rodgers previously won MVP in 2011, 2014 and 2020.
