Packers lose FB John Lovett to season-ending knee injury

An ACL tear will end the 2020 season for Green Bay Packers fullback John Lovett.

The 2020 season is over for Green Bay Packers fullback John Lovett.

According to Adam Schefter of ESPN, Lovett suffered a torn ACL and will miss the rest of the season.

Signed off waivers in August, Lovett has played in all eight games for the Packers this season. He was elevated from the practice squad for the first two weeks and then signed to the active roster on Sept. 26.

Used mostly as a blocking fullback and on special teams, Lovett stepped in as a runner and carried three times for six yards during the Packers’ win over the San Francisco 49ers last week.

The knee injury likely occurred during practice. A full participant at Wednesday’s practice, Lovett was downgraded to limited on Thursday.

Lovett will eventually go on injured reserve.

Over eight games, Lovett played 45 snaps on offense and another 152 on special teams. He recorded four special teams tackles.
