Packers listing S Rudy Ford, LB Quay Walker as questionable vs. Rams

The Packers will have two players listed as questionable for Week 9 vs. the Rams: S Rudy Ford (calf) and LB Quay Walker (groin).

The Green Bay Packers will list only two players on the final injury report before playing the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday. According to coach Matt LaFleur, safety Rudy Ford and linebacker Quay Walker are questionable to play in Week 9.

Ford is dealing with a new calf injury. He was limited on Thursday and didn’t appear to practice Friday. Walker has a new groin injury and didn’t practice Friday. LaFleur said Walker felt something on Friday morning so the team held him out.

“Just came in feeling tight today, so he did not practice,” LaFleur said of Walker.

The status of the two starting defenders will be revealed when the Packers announce gameday inactives at around 10:30 a.m. CT on Sunday morning.

If Ford can’t go, the Packers would have to go with some combination of Jonathan Owens, Anthony Johnson Jr., Dallin Leavitt and Zayne Anderson at safety. Darnell Savage is on injured reserve.

Isaiah McDuffie would be a starter next to De’Vondre Campbell if Walker can’t play.

Cornerback Jaire Alexander, left guard Elgton Jenkins, running back Aaron Jones, tight end Luke Musgrave and offensive tackle Yosh Nijman won’t have playing status designations and should be good to go for Sunday.

Jones wore a red “no contact” jersey all week but LaFleur said he’s ready to cut him loose on Sunday.

“He did a great job (this week),” LaFleur said. “He looked good. Had a good week. Great attitude. Ready to cut him loose.”

With only 52 players on the current roster, LaFleur said he and general manager Brian Gutekunst are communicating on how they want to fill the final roster spot.

The Rams will be without linebacker Ernest Jones and quarterback Matthew Stafford and right tackle Rob Havenstein are questionable to play.
