Only two wide receivers are projected to score more fantasy points during the 2020 NFL season than Davante Adams of the Green Bay Packers.
Fantasy projectors at The Huddle predict Adams will be the third-best fantasy receiver for 2020, trailing only Michael Thomas and Tyreek Hill in total points. Their stat-line projection: 102 catches, 1,380 yards and nine touchdowns, all believable and reachable numbers for Adams this season.
A three-time Pro Bowler, Adams caught 83 passes for 997 yards and five touchdowns over 12 games in 2019. He added 17 catches for 287 yards and two touchdowns over two playoff games, bringing his season totals to 100 catches, 1,295 yards and seven touchdowns over 14 total games.
The Huddle’s analysis on Adams, who they labeled as a “workhorse” at receiver:
The change in offense in 2019 didn’t really impact Adams even if everyone else had fewer catches. He ended with 83 catches for 997 yards and five TDs in 12 games played. Those included seven 100-yard efforts. He battled a toe issue but otherwise was literally the only notable receiving weapon for GB. Despite missing four games, he more than doubled the output of any other GB receiver. The offense may run more and pass less, but Adams is a lock to be workhorse again.
Adams, who made the Pro Bowl in 2017, 2018 and 2019, will go into the 2020 season as the unquestioned top target for two-time MVP Aaron Rodgers and one of the Packers’ few verified weapons in the passing game, likely ensuring he’ll handle a big workload once again. As always, the lifeblood of any great fantasy season is opportunity, and Adams should have no shortage, both in terms of total targets and red-zone chances.
He ended 2019 on a red-hot streak, catching 44 passes for 610 yards and four touchdowns over his final five games, including the playoffs.
During his last full season in 2018, Adams caught 111 passes on 169 targets for 1,386 yards and 13 touchdowns, all career-highs. Over the last four seasons, he is the only NFL receiver to produce 4,000 receiving yards and 40 touchdowns.
