Packers claim OLB Arron Mosby off waivers from Panthers

The Packers claimed edge rusher Arron Mosby off of waivers from the Panthers on Wednesday.

The Green Bay Packers released outside linebacker La’Darius Hamilton on Wednesday, opening a roster spot to claim outside linebacker Arron Mosby off of waivers from the Carolina Panthers, per the league’s transaction wire.

Mosby went undrafted out of Fresno State in 2022. He signed with the Carolina Panthers and appeared in three regular-season games as a rookie. He played 35 total snaps: 33 on special teams and two on defense.

The Panthers elevated him once from the practice squad for a game and twice signed him to the active roster.

Coming out of Fresno State, Mosby ran the 40-yard dash in 4.71 seconds but posted an otherwise low Relative Athletic Score at 3.96 out of 10.0. He is light (250) an edge rusher and produced poor agility and jumping numbers.

Mosby played defensive back, off-ball linebacker and edge rusher at Fresno State. Hie was an All-Mountain West pick after producing 15.5 tackles for loss, 6.5 sacks and six forced fumbles as a senior edge rusher.

The Packers may see Mosby as a versatile defender who could be developed at edge rusher or off-ball linebacker. He’s also an experienced special teamer.

Mosby was waived by the Panthers on Tuesday. He will need to pass a physical in Green Bay before he’s signed to the 90-man roster.
