The Green Bay Packers will have their veteran center available for Sunday night’s showdown with the Tennessee Titans.
The Packers activated Corey Linsley from injured reserve on Saturday and did not give him a status designation on the injury report, clearing the way for Linsley to return after missing three games with a knee injury.
Getting back Linsley should allow the Packers to move Elgton Jenkins back to left guard and provide options on the right side of the offensive line. With Linsley out, the Packers had Jenkins play center and moved Lucas Patrick to left guard, Billy Turner to right guard and Rick Wagner to right tackle.
Previously, the Packers’ preferred offensive line from left to right was David Bakhtiari, Jenkins, Linsley, Patrick and Turner.
Linsley played in the Packers’ first 11 games and was the top-graded center at Pro Football Focus at the time of his injury. He hurt his knee in the first half of the Packers’ win over the Chicago Bears on Nov. 29 and missed the next three games, which were wins for the Packers over the Philadelphia Eagles, Detroit Lions and Carolina Panthers.
With Linsley back, the Packers should have a healthy offensive line as the playoffs near. Green Bay has already clinched the NFC North and has multiple ways of securing the No. 1 seed in the conference over the final two games.
Despite adding Linsley to the 53-man roster, the Packers had an open roster spot and did not need to clear room with a corresponding transaction.
Linsley and the Packers will host the Titans at Lambeau Field starting at 7:15 p.m. CT on Sunday night.
