Now that Ben Simmons is finally healthy enough to play like he wants to play, one of the matters that the Brooklyn Nets have to solve is how to play Simmons in the same lineup as center Nic Claxton. There is one outlet who believes that those two shouldn’t be played together at all.
In an article by Bleacher Report, Andy Bailey had some interesting things to say about what the starting lineup should be for the Nets. For starters, he said that the starting lineup for this season should be the same one that ended last season (Spencer Dinwiddie, Mikal Bridges, Cam Johnson, Dorian Finney-Smith, and Nic Claxton).
What makes this statement compelling is that with how good Simmons looked during the preseason, it has pretty much been assumed that he would be the starting point guard now that he’s healthy. More to the point, Nets head coach Jacque Vaughn said earlier in the preseason that as long as Simmons is playing at a high level, he will have the ball in his hands.
At this point, the Nets fanbase is debating who should be the starting shooting guard: Dinwiddie and microwave-scorer Cam Thomas? The way it looks now is that Simmons, Bridges, Johnson, and Claxton will most likely be starting. What’s left to be decided is who will be the fifth starter out of Dinwiddie, Thomas, or Finney-Smith.
