The New England Patriots won’t have tackle Trent Brown or linebacker Josh Uche for the team’s matchup against the New Orleans Saints on Sunday. Brown has dealt with a calf injury he suffered in Week 1. Uche was listed with a back injury for Friday’s practice and was among the team’s inactives.
Brown’s replacements have been Yasir Durant and Justin Herron with varying success. The team could also look to tackle Yodny Cajuste or even move guard Michael Ownenu to tackle and insert Ted Karras into the lineup.
Uche logged two sacks in the team’s Week 2 win over the New York Jets, and appeared to be building upon an impressive offseason. But his progress will pause for at least one week. New England may feature linebacker Chase Winovich in an effort to compensate for Uche’s injury.
New England’s other inactives include tight end Devin Asiasi, running back Rhamondre Stevenson, cornerback Shaun Wade and linebacker Ronnie Perkins.
Despite missing most of the week for personal reasons, safety Adrian Phillips will play.
