Penei Sewell is regarded as the second-best player in the 2021 NFL Draft class. The Oregon offensive tackle, who is behind Clemson’s Trevor Lawrence, won’t be playing college football in 2020 or early ’21. He announced Monday his decision to opt-out and prepare for next year’s draft.
The 6-foot-6, 330-pounder did not allow a sack last season and allowed just seven quarterback pressures in 466 pass-blocking snaps en route to becoming the third unanimous All-American in Oregon program history.

The unanimous choice for All-American posted this parting message to the Ducks’ faithful:
“There are no words to adequately express how blessed I feel for having played football for the past two seasons at the best school in the country, the University of Oregon,” Sewell wrote in a thank you letter via Twitter. “The love and support I received has been overwhelming, and I could not be more grateful. But ever since I was little, I have dreamt of playing professional football. Accordingly, after long thought, prayer and many conversations with my family, I have decided to opt out of the 2020-21 college football season and prepare for the 2021 NFL Draft.”
The Pac-12 postponed all sports until at least Jan. 1, 2021 on Aug. 11, citing the prevalence of COVID-19 in its communities, concerns about myocarditis, and lack of point-of-care rapid testing.
With Penei Sewell now officially in the 2021 NFL Draft class, will he finish as the No. 2 overall player on the #TDN100 Big Board?
