Oregon State at Washington: Three things to know

  1. Oregon State was on the short end of a 38-28 home loss in Corvallis against Washington State last week, falling outright as a 3-point favorite with the Over (64.5) connecting. The good news is that new QB Tristan Gebbia was decent, going for 329 yards, while RB Jermar Jefferson rumbled for 120 yards and three scores.
  2. The Beavers struggled with a lot of broken and missed tackles last week against the Cougars, and they were roughed up for 456 total yards, including 229 rushing and three scores despite the Cougs missing top RB Max Borghi due to injury.
  3. Washington had its first game canceled due to COVID-19, so the Huskies are a little bit of an unknown nationally. It’s still uncertain if we’ll see Ethan Garbers, Dylan Morris, Jacob Sirmon or Kevin Thomson under center, replacing the departed QB Jake Browning. Perhaps we’ll see most or all of them in the opener, as the QB position battle plays out into the opener.

Oregon State at Washington: Odds, betting lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Washington 34, Oregon State 27

Money line (ML)

AVOID. Washington (-527) is going to win this one straight up, but risking more than five times your potential return is just not good for long-term success.

Against the spread (ATS)

OREGON STATE +14 (-110) has enough talent on offense to stay within hailing distance of Washington, especially since the latter could be a little sloppy in its first game of the season. We saw shaky D for the Beavs last week, but their offense was on point, especially with Jefferson in the backfield. He could be a handful for the Huskies D, which will see live action for the first time in 2020.

Over/Under (O/U)

OVER 51.5 (-110) is a slam-dunk play, as Washington’s D could be a bit sloppy and Oregon State’s D was shaky at best last week. The offenses should find plenty of open spaces, which is always good news for Over players.
