Mario Cristobal must not be big on desserts because there’s just one game on the Oregon Ducks football schedule that could be considered a cupcake.
The Ducks open up the 2021 season with Fresno State in a long-anticipated return of the fans to bring Autzen Stadium back to life. Hopefully, everyone had a nice breakfast and some coffee for the 11 a.m. kickoff.
But the early starts don’t end there as Oregon jumps into the very deep end of the pool with a 9 a.m. kickoff at Ohio State. To say this game is big might be an understatement. It’ll give everyone a full picture of where Cristobal’s program truly is.
After what the Ducks hope is an eye-opening victory, a much-deserved break will be warranted with FCS Stony Brook. Then the march to what could be Oregon’s fourth consecutive Pac-12 title beginning with a home game against Arizona.
Other schedule highlights include a trip to the Rose Bowl to play Chip Kelly’s UCLA squad and a voyage up to Seattle to play Washington. The regular season ends with a home date with the Beavers where the revenge factor will play a huge part in the outcome of that one.
If all goes according to plan, Oregon will make a trip down to Las Vegas to play the winner of the Pac-12 South.
