Oregon Ducks Player of the Game: Wide Receiver Kris Hutson

It’s hard to name anyone a Player of the Game after that one… However, Kris Hutson deserves some attaboys for his breakout performance.

It was an afternoon that Oregon fans will be haunted by for a long, long time on Saturday. The Ducks were dominated on both sides of the ball in a listless effort against the Utah Utes, resulting in a 38-7 loss and the end of their CFP hopes.

While plenty went wrong on Saturday, the Ducks did see a pair of young receivers put together nice nights. Devon Williams had five catches for 81 yards and the team’s only touchdown, while Kris Hutson is our Ducks Wire player of the game after hauling in four receptions for 96 yards.

The 96 receiving yards shatter his previous career high, which was just 36 back in Week 7 against Cal.

In a game without Jaylon Redd and Johnny Johnson III, who are both nursing injuries, and of course without the fresh transfer Mycah Pittman, quarterback Anthony Brown had to rely on Oregon’s young but dynamic receiving crew.

If there is a positive to take from this game, which is tough to find, it’s the experience and confidence these young receivers gained performing well on a big stage.
