After an ugly performance in Week 1, the Oregon Ducks have looked nothing short of excellent in their most recent two games, including a big-time 41-20 victory over the No. 14 ranked BYU Cougars at Autzen Stadium on Saturday.
The team has ebbed and flowed almost directly with the tides of quarterback Bo Nix’s performances, so it’s no surprise to see him named Oregon’s player of the week for the second week in a row here at Ducks Wire.
Nix was nearly perfect in the first half, and after getting rest in the third quarter Nix returned to the game in the fourth – after BYU made the game a little more interesting – and he continued his excellent performance.
Nix finished with 222 passing yards and two passing touchdowns, while completing 13 passes on 18 attempts. His biggest contribution actually came on the ground however, with his three rushing touchdowns representing a career-high.
Nix spread the love, completing 13 passes to eight different receivers. Terrance Ferguson had two receptions for 24 yards, with each catch going for a touchdown. Troy Franklin led the team in receptions (3) and yards (84) while Chase Cota and Cam McCormick each added two catches as well.
But Nix made everything happen on offense, and he’ll go into Week 4 undefeated at home and in charge of a team that put themselves right back into the national conversation on Saturday.
