The Oregon Ducks comfortably secured a victory against a hapless Colorado Buffaloes squad on Saturday, winning 52-29 in a game that wasn’t even as close as the final score suggests.
While there were plenty of players who could have garnered player of the game honors in this one – including extraordinary games from Byron Cardwell, Travis Dye, and Devon Williams on offense – it’s impossible to ignore the common denominator in all those performances; quarterback Anthony Brown.
Doubts about Brown’s ability to pilot this team reached near deafening levels after the team struggled to beat Cal, but a strong showing against UCLA followed by his best game as a Duck on Saturday has quieted those concerns.
Brown threw for an Oregon-career high 307 yards and three touchdowns against the Buffs, completing 25 of his 31 passing attempts – an astonishing 80.6% completion rate.
Brown also did some damage on the ground, rushing for 38 yards including a nice 14 yard scamper.
When the graduate transfer quarterback is playing at this level, it’s hard to imagine there are many teams in the country that can take this Oregon team down.
